Nicolas Salagnac

PortraitAt the age of 15, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Nicolas Salagnac entered the Ecole Boulle. He graduated as an engraver. At the age of 25, he is in charge of the engraving workshop of a subsidiary of A. Augis, jeweler since 1830, in Lyon where he makes his weapons. In 2000, the quality of his work is recognized by his peers, he becomes one of the Best Craftsmen of France. At the age of 34, he set up his own business. In 2005, he was awarded the First National Prize of the Société d'Encouragement des Métiers d'Art. In 2008, he created the Medal of Honor of the Villa Médicis for Frédéric Mitterrand, as well as the official medal of the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy (Arthus-Bertrand). In 2013, the Senate retained his creation to create the new medal of its President (ed. Monnaie de Paris). Recently, Patrick Jouenne, master carpenter for the spire and transepts of Notre-Dame de Paris, asked me to design a medal for the carpenters, intended to reward all the Compagnons du Chantier (master craftsmen) involved in the project. And work in collaboration with colleagues from the Grands Ateliers de France.
